The importance of having a website for your business

Why is it so important to have a website for your business alongside social media platforms?
Being in the middle of a pandemic with only a select handful of businesses that can remain trading at the moment is unfortunate, to say the least. The footfall is obviously down (virtually non-existent) on the high street so the likelihood that more businesses are either going online or ceasing to trade in the coming months is high.

At P. we want to show you how simple it is to have an online presence which will give you real tangible credibility as a business.

Having a website for your business is an important pivotal piece to your business jigsaw. Your website is the key to securing more sales or creating long-lasting monogamous customer relationships that all businesses crave. It should be the focal point in your marketing strategy; a chance to showcase what you do and how you do it which in turn improves customer trust and goes some way to convincing them that you are a master expert in your trade. If you solely rely on a social media page you could vanish overnight; as a buyer, we know where we would put our money.

It is reported that around 46% of small businesses do not have a website. Concerning as 93% of a business or personal purchases/decisions will have started with an online search. Around 12% of people only have a Facebook page which they use as their website. 84% of consumers believe that having a website makes the business more credible than others without an online presence.

First impressions

Once a customer has formed an opinion on something you’ve written or put out there it is very difficult to change their mind, so just one of the reasons having a website is to correctly inform grabbing positive attention! Revenue can easily be lost if you do not have a website. Fact. People want to know a bit about who you are and what your business is about before they have even spoken to you. It can be a turn off seeing that your business has not got its own website and it also means people cannot identify with you so they will not put their faith in you to do the job. It sits there to be judged.

At this point, we must also add whilst we are talking first impressions that if you copy is written badly or is not on the right pages then the customer will navigate away from your website.  See our blog post The Copy Key to help with this.

~We had a conversation with another marketing agency recently; when asked how business was he said slow but getting there, they have two clients. We searched on for them on the web and could not find them, we then looked on Facebook and there they were, there was in fact a website link but it said ‘oops this link is broken’. We surely won’t have been the first business to find this.

Your business has the potential to expand further than just locally if you have a website; think big, global is there for the taking. Imagine! Your business can grow to a bigger audience! Your business can be seen while you are on holiday or even while you sleep. It is a known fact that during the pandemic people have bought more and more online. Items and services placed on the website can then be filtered through on to other platforms.

The importance of having a website outweighs not having one!
Even if you consider your business to be ‘offline’, it is crucial to at least get the basics online so people can learn about you. Not being able to find solid or certain information can be irritating and could mean them choosing another company. We are sure that’s not in your marketing plan! Do you go online to find out what the opening hours are or where a shop is located? When is your local barbershop open? Or maybe where they are exactly (Google Maps post pending!)
